Quad Technologies Launches Flagship Product

Quad Technologies, which was co-founded by ChE Professor Shashi Murthy with graduate students Sean Kevlahan (PhD ’13), Adam Hatch (PhD ’14), and Brian Plouffe (PhD ’11), launched its flagship product for cell purification on Wednesday.

Quad Technologies went through the Health Science Entrepreneurs program and IDEA before winning prizes at the Rice Business Plan Competition and MassChallenge.  Its technology was originally developed in Murthy's lab as part of an NIH-funded project and Quad went through the licensing process with CRI with substantial help along the way from Tracey Dodenhoff.  This was the first startup for all founders and we were fortunate to get a great deal of valuable advice from Marc Meyer in the early days.  It was not a trivial process to go from gel in a test tube to the systematically manufactured and quality assured commercial product launched today.  Credit for successfully navigating all aspects of this process goes to Quad’s CEO Sean Kevlahan and COO Jeff Zonderman (NU CoS Class of ’88).  You’ll get to read more about this journey in the next issue of the Northeastern Magazine.

Quad now employs eight people plus two NU student co-ops and recently moved to a new site in Woburn.  I am sure exciting times lie ahead.
