American Academy of Arts and Sciences Electees Explain the Impacts of Their Research
University Distinguished Professor Eduardo Sontag, electrical and computer engineering, jointly appointed in bioengineering, and Elizabeth Mynatt, dean of the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, have both been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Their interdisciplinary work encompasses how humans and computers interact and the mathematical concepts behind human systems.

Researching Data for Life-Cycle Assessments and Chemical Sustainability
CEE Associate Professor Matthew Eckelman and chemical engineering alum Abhijeet Parvatker, Ph.D.’21, collaborated on research about how the health care industry contributes to national and global emissions. This research later led Parvatker to pursue a consultant managing role at Sphera Solutions.

Pizzarella Receives 2024 Condit Award
Dominic Pizzarella, E’25, chemical engineering and biochemistry, won the Sears B. Condit Award which is awarded annually to one student from each of Northeastern’s undergraduate day colleges and is one of the highest honors that a junior or senior at Northeastern University can receive.
